Farm to School begins at home!
What children eat at home, influences what they want to eat at school. The role of the parent in a child's nutrition is very important! Help children enjoy enjoy fruits and vegetables at home and their nutrition will improve at school.
The goals of Rockland's Farm to School movement are to:
- Promote Farm to You Fest
- offer New York State produce in schools
- establish school gardens as resources for physical activity and education on nutrition and a variety of other academic subjects
- promote human and environmental health
The Rockland Farm to School network includes Rockland County Department of Health, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County, New York State Agriculture and Markets, Rockland Farm Alliance, Rockland Farm Bureau, school teachers and volunteers as well as several school food service directors.
